Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) in Point Pelee National Park, Ontario, Canada sips nectar from late September goldenrod blooms in preparation for annual southern migration to winter roosting grounds in Transvolcanic mountains of central Mexico.  This Monarch has been tagged by volunteers as part of Monarch Watch, an educational outreach program run by University of Kansas in order to monitor migration routes and ongoing health of Monarch butterfly populations.
