Five-Lined Skink (Eumeces fasciatus). Juvenile skink has bright blue tail to distract predators from its more vulnerable parts. All skinks can shed their tail when attacked, and later the tail grows back. Only lizard found in Eastern Canada (in Southern Ontario). Along Lakes Erie, Huron and Ontario skinks may be found amid shoreline debris and vegetation bordering sandy beaches. This skink photographed in May along Lake Erie in Point Pelee National Park, Ontario. Canada.
