Young Pronghorn Antelope (Antiloapra americana) fawn resting while mom is away feeding. Western U.S., June. Young fawns spend much of their first couple weeks of life lying on the ground while mom (usually within sight though that maybe upto a 1/2 mile away) feeds and rests. Their best protection against predators at this stage in their lives is going undetected.
