Sea Otter (Enhydra lutris) mom with young pup resting in sheltered bay on Prince William Sound, Alaska. Spring. Pup is sleeping while mom feeds. Mom dives to the bottom searching for food--often gone 2 to 4 minutes--then returns to the surface to eat. Before she dives again she usually comes over and touches/checks on her sleeping young one.
